Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take credit cards?

Yes! At Butternut Farm we can take cash, checks, and credit or debit cards as forms of payment for everything on the farm!

Can I bring my dog?

Unfortunately, we do not allow dogs at the farm. Please leave them at home to avoid them having to sit in a hot and stuffy car while you pick!

Do you use pesticides? Are you organic?

Butternut Farm does use some synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. This means we are not organic. However, we use them sparingly and only when we feel it is necessary.

We are happy to say that we are using an increasing number of organic pesticides and fertilizers with encouraging results. These tools will continue to become bigger players in our operation as we are always looking for ways to incorporate more of them into our farm plan.

We believe in and use a system called Integrated Pest Management as our template to manage any pests we encounter. We always spray at night when there are no customers on the property and are diligent about roping off areas of the farm that have been sprayed to ensure no one enters within the designated wait time.

If you have further questions about IPM or our practices here at the farm, click the link or feel free to contact us. We want to answer your questions and make sure you feel good about what you are picking and eating!

Can I pay for my fruit in the Cider House?

Unfortunately fruit sales in the Cider House make things too complicated inside that building, thank you for understanding by going to the Farmstand to pay for your fruit and then visiting the Cider House either before and/or after fruit picking for donuts and hard cider.

How can I have fruit all year?

We have an entire page dedicated to teaching you how to preserve all the fresh fruit you just picked!
