Cherries

We have about 1.5 acres of pick your own cherries. Beginning around July 4th, the season typically runs about 3 weeks. Short but sweet.

Sweet cherries are rich with sugar and very low in acid. Such a sweet treat that are best used for eating.

Sour cherries definitely more tart than sweet cherries. These are the ones you want to use for everything else, including: drying, pies, juicing, and any other baking or preserving ideas.

  • SWEET CHERRIES

    Early Season sweet: (First Week of July)

    Rynbrandt: dark mahogany
    Benton: dark mahogany, good flavor​



    Mid Season sweet: (July 8th-20th)

    Black York: dark color, small in size, good flavor
    Schmidt: dark color, good size
    Black Gold: excellent flavor, dark color
    White Gold: bi-colored, light red with yellow background
    Rainier: bicolored, very sweet, light red with yellow background

    Sweet Late Season: (last Week of July)

    Regina: large size, mahogany purple, excellent flavor
    Skeena: smaller size, red color
    Lapins: mahogany purple, good size, good flavor

    SOUR CHERRIES

    Sour Early Season:

    Jubileum: The sweetest of the sour cherries! Ripens about July 1st

    Danube: much like Jubileum, it just ripens a couple days later.

    Montmorency: Ripens about July 15th.

    Sour Late Season:

    Balaton: Ripens about July 20th.
