A local Neighborhood Cidery
The hard cider tasting room is now closed. The Cider basement is busy though. It is "Go Time" for our two fermenters which are getting the 2019 vintage ready for the next serving season to begin in April of 2020. See you then.
What ciders are coming for 2020?
Returning Favorites: The Back 40, Wobbly Farmer, Seedy Red, Peachy Keen, and That Blue Stuff.
Barrel Aged Ciders for 2020: Rum Red Raspberry, BAM (maple bourbon barrel), and Bourbon Barrel Blend.
New cider for 2020: Our first Cyser (cider made with local honey) and a Tequila barrel aged.
We are open for suggestions on naming these two new blends! Send an e-mail.

A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT OUR CIDER:
The apples used to make our hard cider are sourced from here at Butternut Farm, other local farms in New Hampshire and Maine, and Burnap Farm in western New York. We search out combinations of "dessert" varieties that offer maximum sugar and balanced acidity for a light, refreshing hard cider. The alcohol content of our ciders range from 6% to 7% and can be classified as off dry to semisweet for sugar content. Heritage, Bittersweet, and Bittersharp varieties native to both Europe and North America are being planted and will eventually be mixed in to add better flavor and more body to our blends in years to come.
Our hard ciders are hand-crafted on site in 300 gallon batches. At minimum, it takes 10 weeks from pressing the apples until a batch is finished and ready to serve, but it can take longer. Up to 6 months of aging can be required for our "Barrel Aged" ciders. We use simple methods with attention to detail, including cultured yeasts for predictability of desired flavor. We strive to preserve fruit flavors by choosing not to filter and use minimal, if any, preservatives (sulfites and sorbates). Before serving, the cider is force carbonated and slightly back sweetened. Quart and half gallon sized growlers are available for purchase. Please remember our ciders are best when consumed within 2 weeks of purchase and are kept fresh by always being stored in your refrigerator.
With production in the basement and tasting room on the first floor, the Butternut Farm Cider House was designed to make and sell small batch craft hard cider directly to you.
