Here are some very important programs close to our family and our employee's hearts.
Jane's Pies- One dollar of every pie sold at Butternut Farm will go to The Brian Swift Scholarship Fund at the Oyster River High School. Jane Swift made pies for Butternut Farm even before Giff and I got here. She became a very important part of our family. Jane even took time to spend with one of our daughter's at her grandparent's Day at School. We lost Jane in December of 2009. She will forever be part of Butternut Farm. Jane had been the director of the Brian Swift Scholarship Fund since losing her son, Brian, to cancer. We would like to honor Jane and support her effort in offering scholarship to exceptional students in the Durham community.
Gerry's Pantry- Volunteers from Gerry's Pantry come and pick our excess fruit, free of charge, to offer to families in need throughout our community. We hope to grow this relationship as the years go on.
Guilt Free Box- Part of the fun of Butternut is that you can taste the fruit as you pick. We are putting up boxes around the farm so customers who enjoy our fruit out in the orchard, before paying, will be able to contribute to these boxes. All of the money collected will go to charity. We are going to identify a different charity each year.
As Always- We offer gift certificates and baskets to many organizations in our area, as well as sponsoring youth athletic team.
